Who we are

Who this site is for
The special tests library, the red-flag pages, the calculator, the teaching cases and the newsletter are written for registered health practitioners and students. They are general educational information about published research. They are not clinical advice, and they do not replace your own clinical judgement, your local protocols or current clinical guidelines.
If you are a patient, please do not use this site to diagnose or treat yourself: talk to your own doctor or health practitioner. In an emergency, call 000 in Australia, or your local emergency number.
About the figures
The figures come from published studies of groups of patients. They may not apply to the patient in front of you, studies can disagree, and newer research can change them. Figures are checked against their published source wherever the paper can be obtained, as described on the methods page. Each test page says what was read, including where only the abstract could be checked or a figure has not yet been checked against the full paper. We cannot promise that every page is free of error or fully up to date. Corrections are listed, with dates, on the corrections page. If you find an error, please tell us.
Your responsibility
You remain responsible for every clinical decision you make, including whether and how urgently to refer. Referral pathways and urgency rules differ between health services and countries; follow those that apply where you work.
Our liability
To the extent the law allows, The Trustee for Tompson Trust (trading as Trokos) is not liable for any loss, injury or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, this site. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law, or under any other law, that cannot lawfully be excluded.

We link to published studies and other websites for reference. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content.
Copying and sharing
You may print and share the pages on this website, unchanged, for teaching that is not sold or included in anything sold, with credit to Trokos and a link to the page. Teaching in a course that charges fees is allowed, as long as the pages themselves are not sold. This does not cover the Rule It In, Rule It Out book, the Trokos name or logo, or material owned by others, and does not imply that Trokos endorses any course. We may change or withdraw this permission at any time. All other rights reserved; for any other use, please get in touch.
